Restoration & Plating

We believe that every piece of metalware carries a unique story—a legacy of memories, celebrations, and cherished moments. Over time, however, wear and tarnish can dim that brilliance. But fear not! Our restoration and plating services are here to breathe new life into your treasured items.

Re-polishing

Re-polishing is an artful process that rejuvenates tired surfaces. We meticulously remove dirt, scratches, and oxidation from silverware and metalware, revealing their original shine and smoothness. Whether it’s a vintage candelabra, an intricately designed bowl, or a beloved family heirloom, our re-polishing services cover a wide range of metals:

  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Copper
  • Brass
  • Stainless steel

Re-plating

Re-plating is like giving your metalware a fresh coat of armor. We restore a layer of silver over your cherished pieces, covering any damage or worn spots. Our skilled craftsmen use professional-grade techniques to ensure exceptional results. You can choose from various plating options:

  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Copper
  • Brass
  • Nickel

Expectations & Considerations

While we work wonders with most metals, there are limitations:

  • Some compositions or conditions make re-plating impossible for metals like chrome, zinc, aluminum, MAZAC (magnesium-aluminum-zinc compound), mild steel (carbon steel), pewter, or wrought iron.
  • Stainless steel, Britannia metal, Britannia plate, and EPBM (Electroplated Britannia Metal) items require individual assessment for re-plating suitability.

Limitations and Risks

Re-silver plating your silverware can enhance its beauty and value, but it also has some limitations and risks. Before you send your items to us, please read the following information carefully:

  • Re-silver plating does not fix major damage such as pits, corrosion, chips, or deep scratches. Your silverware will look brighter and smoother, but not perfect. Some items may be too damaged to be resoldered and may need to be replaced instead.

  • Re-silver plating depends on the quality and condition of the base metal. If the metal is poor or contaminated, the new silver may not adhere well leading it to bubble or flake later. We cannot guarantee that this will not happen.

  • Re-silver plating involves high temperatures and chemicals that may cause cracking, breaking, or warping of your silverware. We cannot prevent or take responsibility for such damage. You should only send your silverware to us if you are willing to accept this risk.

  • We only offer limited repair services such as straightening fork tines. For more complex repairs, you will need to provide us with detailed descriptions and photos of the work needed. We will assess each case individually and let you know if we can do it.
